I'm about halfway through my year now and other than a few minor hiccups, it's right that I voice a few words of thanks and praise to various factions of the club, so lets start with the House committee and acknowledge the tremendous improvements that have transformed the clubhouse and patio area over the last few months.
The numerous hours dedicated to the club by our incredibly gifted members is the envy of clubs far and wide.
Next, the course. Currently in the throws of reassessment. The praise and compliments received from visitors from around the country never stop as we slowly but surely become a course of note and shake off the tag of 'Little Onneley'. The work that Colin and his team get through never ceases to amaze me.
On the social side, the darts league, has been an enormous success again, keeping the bar revenue ticking over during the winter, along with our occasional music events and quizzes.
Last but not least, the bar and catering staff who consistently provide us and our visitors with amazingly good quality food and drink with everlasting smiles and patience.
All of this makes me enormously proud to have the honour of captaining Onneley Golf Club.
Thanks to all of you who have signed up for my away day at Willesley Park. Can I thank those who have paid for the day and ask that those of you who are still outstanding their payment, it is due so that I can liaise with the venue on numbers.
